Autogate Problem in Shah Alam – Caused by Wiring Issue

Good morning!
We received a call from a customer in Shah Alam whose autogate stopped working since yesterday. They couldn’t contact their original installer, so they called us recommended by a friend.

As usual, we asked the customer to turn off the DB (main switch) for about 15 minutes to reset the system. Later, we checked again through WhatsApp, and the customer said they already did it, but the autogate still didn’t work.

They also said that one power point had tripped, and when they tried to switch it back on, the whole house power tripped again. So, they suspected there was a wiring problem. Since they already turned off the DB for 2–3 hours the night before, they were a bit unsure about doing it again.

What We Found

When we arrived, we opened the autogate control box and saw that the transformer cable was removed and taped up. We told the customer, and they said that a wireman came yesterday.

That wireman told them the autogate parts were broken and said he couldn’t fix it but he offered to help install a new autogate system with his friend. The customer didn’t trust him, so they called us instead.

It seems like that wireman maybe didn’t have the right tools (like a multimeter) or didn’t know how to fix autogate systems. He just took the money and left.

We checked and confirmed that the ground wire was damaged. So we installed new wiring from the nearest power source to the autogate control box.

Customer Also Had House Wiring Problem

The customer also asked us about their house lights, because the lights were blinking or not working, even after changing new bulbs.

We advised them to call a professional house electrician (Mr. Electrician), because house wiring is not the same as autogate wiring.
